Overview

Forensic Sciences is a scientific area that, although not new, is presently in considerable evolution, in which new scientific income is regularly happening. This income consists in important strategies and solutions to implement in the field, in order to guarantee a more secure response (based in evidence) from forensic professionals, in what concerns evidence production all fields of the law. This will be an important contribute to a good administration of justice, as well as of health and protection/safety promotion. This course aims to promote the acquisition of knowledge and competences in order to prepare professionals of diverse backgrounds to act appropriately and articulately, when confronted in their professional activity with medico-legal and forensic issues, so they contribute to justice's best application, in the best interest citizens (including here aspects related with their protection/safety, health/rehabilitation and forensic evidence production. It is therefore important that future (forensic) professionals - or those who, in view of the type of activity they are developing - need knowledge in the field, can benefit from specialized and multidisciplinary training in this area, which, in addition to promoting knowledge, skills and technical-scientific competences will stimulate the fundamental articulation between the professionals of the several areas, articulation that constitutes today the key point as guarantor of the good result of a forensic intervention.

Elegibility
a) Holders of a graduation´s, master's or doctor's degree in Medicine, Dental Medicine, Forensic and Criminal Laboratory Sciences, Criminology, Law, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biology, Psychology, Anthropology, Pathological and Cytological Anatomy, Nursing and Police Sciences; b) Holders of a graduation, master or doctor degree which curriculum demonstrates an adequate basic preparation and on which the scientific committee gives its assent; c) Holders of an equivalent foreign university degree whoich curriculum demonstrates an adequate basic preparation and on which the scientific committee gives its assent; d) Holders of a school, scientific or professional curriculum that is recognized as attesting the capacity to carry out this course.
