The Doctoral Program in Medicine of the University of Porto (PDM-UP) is a program conceived for medical doctors, coming from any field of Medicine, at any point of their professional careers, who want to acquire skills and advanced education, in scientific methodology, in Medicine, throughout the development of an original research project, that will conduct to a PhD thesis and degree in Medicine.
The candidates to the PDM-UP will be considered upon the demonstration of basic competences in biomedical research and publication, attested by the frequency of adequate courses, or by the authorship or co-authorship of scientific papers, published in journals with impact factor, and the presentation of a research project, with a declaration of acceptance from an adviser, with a Ph.D. in the field of Medicine, to whom one to two co-advisors may be associated later on.
The PDM-UP requires the frequency of a minimum of basic curricular units, during its first year, that may be partially substituted by courses or fellowships, accredited by the scientific committee of the program.
