Gene and cell-based advanced therapies

Overview

This course is organized in five theoretical sessions where the following syllabus contents will be taught:

Session 1 - Introduction to the theme. A Regulatory Framework for Advanced Therapies will be presented.

Session 2 - Gene Therapies: Discussion of Fundamentals, Editing Techniques and Gene Vectorization, Production.

Session 3 - Cell Therapies: Presentation of the fundamentals. Therapies with stem and pluripotent cells. Somatic cell therapy. Production.

Session 4 - Tissue Engineering: Definitions, History. Strategies and applications. Challenges and future trends. Biomaterials. Biocompatibility. Bioengineering products. ISO Standards and Quality. Production.

Session 5 - Pharmacoeconomic analysis of Advanced Therapeutics. Currently marketed products. Ethics applied to Advanced Therapies.
